Zhang Qian, a judge from the Beijing Internet Court (BIC), was invited to attend a law popularization live-streaming event on Nov 8, ahead of the Singles Day online shopping spree, which falls on Nov 11 every year.

As one of the speakers at the three-hour program, Zhang explained applicable laws and regulations that help protect online shoppers' legal rights. Topics included online dispute jurisdiction,  unconditional purchase returns, triple compensation, and quality inconsistency of the same product models in online and offline stores.

Zhang also had a Q&A session with viewers and addressed their concerns about online shopping.

The program, which was initiated by BIC, Hangzhou Internet Court, Guangzhou Internet Court and a news media organization under the Supreme People's Court, was live-streamed on several online platforms, attracting more than 140,000 viewers.
