Three papers from the Beijing Internet Court won first and second prizes at the  16th Bohai rim regional forum on the rule of law.

The first prize-winning paper is on the judicial predicament of a virtual defendant in online infringement cases and suggested solutions. The two second-prize papers are on algorithm infringement and blockchain electronic evidence deposits, respectively.

The Bohai rim regional forum on the rule of law is one of seven regional forums on the rule of law in China that are led by the China Law Society and organized by local law societies to promote legal research and innovation in a bid to propel the rule of law construction in China. The Bohai rim regional forum is hosted by seven provincial-level law societies from Beijing, Inner Mongolia, Liaoning, Shanxi, Shandong, Tianjin and Hebei. This year's forum was hosted by Hebei Law Society and themed on legal guarantee for high-quality regional socioeconomic development under the new development philosophy.

A total of 1,025 papers were solicited this year. There are 80 final winners, with eight  first prize, 24 second prize and 48 third prize winners.
